Rose working hard in offseason

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose is already one of the best at his position in the conference, but he isn’t taking a lot of time off right now.

Rose knows his outside shooting and defense are both a work in progress and has been using the summer to get better in each area.

The point guard is playing with Team USA this summer and wants to carry his defensive effort over into the NBA season.

Rose is plenty athletic and has a big wingspan for a guard, giving him a good body for a defender. (Read More…)

Bulls set to sign McGrady

The Chicago Bulls are getting closer to signing formerĀ All-Star guard Tracy McGrady to a contract.

The Bulls have told McGrady that if he can prove he is completely healthy, they will sign him.

They also want to make sure that he is willing to accept a bench role and won’t cause chemistry issues.

McGrady has made it clear that the terms of a contract are not that important to him; he just wants to play. (Read More…)

Bulls sign Brewer

The Chicago Bulls have signed guard Ronnie Brewers to a three-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Brewer said he could have gone to the Boston Celtics in a sign-and-trade deal but felt Chicago was a better fit.

He could get a chance to start at shooting guard and play alongside point guard Derrick Rose. (Read More…)

Bulls sign Boozer

The Chicago Bulls may not have landed LeBron James, Dwyane Wade or Chris Bosh, but they didn’t come away empty-handed.

The Bulls signed power forward Carlos Boozer to a five-year contract worth around $80 million.

Boozer immediately got in contact with James and tried to lure him to Chicago, but the efforts fell on deaf ears. (Read More…)

Bulls dump salary

The Chicago Bulls used the NBA Draft as another means to dump more salary, setting them up nicely on the free agent market.

Chicago traded away draft picks as well as shooting guard Kirk Hinrich, freeing up additional money.

The Bulls are one of a handful of teams that could possibly land LeBron James, and many think it’s down to them and Cleveland. (Read More…)

Bulls show interest in Jackson

The Chicago Bulls are interested in Los Angeles Lakers head coach Phil Jackson and have made him aware of that fact.

Jackson is in the final year of his contract with the Lakers, who have made it known he will have to take a pay cut to return.

The legendary head coach is not likely to take a pay cut given his stature and could return to Chicago, where he won six NBA titles.

This time, instead of Michael Jordan leading the way, it could be Jackson taking LeBron James under his wings.

The Bulls will just have to sit and wait and watch as things unfold with the Lakers still in the NBA playoffs.

Obama wants James in Chicago

You know something big must be happening when even President Obama has to weigh in with his opinion.

The LeBron James sweepstakes have risen even to a presidential level, making it one of the biggest stories in the NBA in years.

President Obama, a self-admitted huge Chicago sports fan, thinks James would do well to sign with the Bulls.

Some fans are making a big deal about this, saying the president shouldn’t be getting involved in such matters.

Who cares? He is allowed to be a basketball fan just like the next person, and it’s obvious he is very interested in the situation.

Bulls eyeing LeBron

The Chicago Bulls are quietly eyeing up LeBron James and seem like the most likely team to land the pending free agent.

Rumors are circling that James would be a package deal along with Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari.

Many are strongly denying that James would be requesting such a deal, but the rumors persist anyway.

It would be an interesting move considering all of the comparisons of James and Michael Jordan.

LeBron also will be looking at the Miami Heat, New York Knicks, New Jersey Nets and hometown Cleveland Cavaliers.

Calipari interested in Bulls job

Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari is intrigued by the idea of coaching the Chicago Bulls.

Calipari has always wanted another crack at the NBA after he failed as coach of the New Jersey Nets.

Coaching the Bulls would give him a much more competitive team and the chance to work with former point guard Derrick Rose.

Calipari apparently hasn’t exactly gotten off to a smooth start with the Kentucky administration, which sounds reminiscent of Billy Gillispie.

Publically, Calipari is making it clear he has no interest in the job and is very happy at Kentucky.

Bulls fire Del Negro

After rumors have been flying for days, the Chicago Bulls have fired head coach Vinny Del Negro.

It doesn’t come as a huge surprise given the team’s disappointing finish and Del Negro’s problems with John Paxson.

The two never saw eye-to-eye, which is pretty important between the head coach and general manager.

The Bulls will begin a search for their next coach immediately, with Doug Collins likely one of the candidates.

Chicago is hoping to lure one of two big free agents to the Windy City in the offseason, with LeBron James topping their list.
